    Myth Buster: Proof is in the Numbers


    Do holidays or seasons affect results?

    When talking with prospects and clients, we often run across reasons why they think cold calling is ineffective during certain times of the year. Some say “no one works around the holiday’s, so it’s pointless to call.” Another common objection is that summer is slow due to the amount of vacations taken, so we should wait to reach out until fall.

    In the United States, there are 10 annual holiday’s, which give us shortened weeks. On average, an employee gets two weeks of paid vacation, eliminating two more weeks of productivity. With holiday’s and paid time off alone, you’re left with about 40 weeks out of the 52 weeks to be highly effective. And, they only become effective if you reach the right person, at the right time, closing the majority of your deals, which usually isn’t as easy at it sounds, because let’s face it… sales takes a lot of time and effort. There are always numerous excuses to why it won’t work, but what about why it will work, even to your advantage.

    MPI took all of the objections we heard and went straight to our most reliable source, our data. We examined and analyzed our activity and results from January 2016 through July 2018 on normal five day work weeks, holiday’s and different seasons. Additionally, we highlighted the week of July 4, 2018 to further dissect holiday production. Our main goal was to decipher the actions taken and the outcomes that took place on a week-by-week and month-by-month basis. At MPI, we believe if you make enough effort, the results will come, regardless of the time of year, which is why we went to the numbers to measure our theory.


    First: We measured actual client results throughout the year and around the holidays.

    Second: Our team analyzed those results to really see what the proof was behind the numbers. 

    Lastly: We drew a conclusion to see if our clients or prospects hypothesis' were accurate, or if lead generation can work throughout the year, regardless of holiday's or season's.
