Standing out online can be a difficult task to accomplish due to the variety of networking options. However, social media is where a vast majority spend their time both on computers and mobile devices. In fact, social media is so popular that the average person will spend five years and four months on social media throughout their lifetime. Implement these six social media strategies to leverage your company page to be an account your prospects, customers and even strangers talk about!

    1. Use more than one outlet

With so many different social media channels, it is important to have a presence on not just one, but multiple platforms. While this may seem obvious, the more channels you’re on, the more likely it is that you’ll get noticed. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, YouTube and Instagram are the most popular channels in 2018 thus far. Create a company page on multiple platforms and leverage your content. It is important to know that different posts are good for different channels, so tailor posts accordingly. While Facebook and Instagram are great for sharing company photos, LinkedIn is better to share company and industry updates and less company photos. Pick the right social networks for your company and its audience. Not all channels are right for your business.

    1. Become an industry leader

Establish yourself as a reliable company that shares industry news, updates and relevant content. Position yourself as a trusted resource and thought leader. Include posts that aren’t just self-promotion. Create marketing content your viewers value. Draw inspiration from others in your industry, blogs you read or frequently asked questions from your customers. Having a variety of topics, you post about positions your business as multi-dimensional.

    1. Focus on visuals

It is a known fact that visuals draw attention. In fact, according to HubSpot, 74% of social media marketers use visual assets in their social media marketing. Images, videos, live-steams and infographics are four main visual components to implement in your social media campaigns. Just on Twitter alone, tweets with images receive 150% more retweets than tweets without images. Video content is a marketing tool that has grown considerably in the last few years. In 2017, video content represented 74% of all internet traffic! Additionally, YouTube reaches more 18+-year-olds during prime-time viewing hours than any cable TV network. Live steam has become a tool on Facebook and Instagram. On Facebook, users spend 3x more time watching live videos than traditional videos. Many times, infographics are more eye-catching than whitepapers, articles or blog posts. Infographics are “liked” and shared on social media 3x more than any other type of content. If these stats don’t convince you to post images, videos, infographics and utilize live-stream, we don’t know what will!

    1. Engage

Engagement is key. It is important to not only post content on your page, but you need to engage with others posts. Like, comment and share posts that are relevant to your industry or topics that interest you. Using these simple engagement tactics to interact with your audience, shows them you are interested in what they have to say and care about what they’re doing. Respond to messages and comments on your accounts in a timely manner to ensure questions are being answered and feedback is taken into consideration.

    1. Share behind the scenes footage

Give your brand faces behind it. Your social media followers want to see what your company is doing. Showcase photos of office events, employee updates and company news. Let your audience feel like they have the inside scoop as to what is going on at your place of work. Birthdays, company anniversaries, work sessions and conferences are just a few things to share. Utilize Facebook or Instagram live tools to broadcast a morning meeting or team work session. Most viewers are genuinely curious to see your daily routine and special events.

    1. Host a contest

There is no better way to get your followers to engage with your posts than having a contest. Ask a trivia question, have them share a photo on a topic or tailor a contest to a holiday. Having people comment, share and like your post during a contest will improve reach, engagement and impressions. Give away a discount or coupon, a prize bucket, or even a gift card. The bigger the giveaway the bigger the buzz!

There are many ways to implement and fulfill successful social media activities. Use more than one outlet, become an industry leader, focus on visuals, engage with users, share behind the scenes footage and host a contest. See if implementing these six strategies helps boost your social media presence.
